The ER Twins’ Busy Day!
In the bustling world of Cellville, lived two happy siblings,
Smooth ER and Rough ER, always ready for new beginnings!
Step 1: Protein Patrol
Rough ER, with tiny ribosome dots all over his skin,
Said, “Let’s get to work, it’s time to begin!
I’ll fold and shape proteins, strong and neat,
To send through the cell, a delivery complete!”
Step 2: Lipid Lane
“While you do that,” Smooth ER replied with cheer,
“I’ll make lipids and oils, both far and near.
Cholesterol, hormones, and detox too—
I smooth out the cell, that’s what I do!”
Step 3: Working Together
The two ERs laughed, “We’re quite a pair!
Proteins and lipids—we both take care.
Side by side, we always stay,
Helping our cell in every way.”
Step 4: The Grand Send-Off
When their work was ready, packed up tight,
They passed it to Golgi, glowing so bright.
“Ship these out!” they called with glee,
“For the cell depends on you and me!”
And so, in Cellville, both day and night,
Smooth and Rough ER kept things right.
Together they proved, as siblings do,
That teamwork makes dreams—and cells—come true!
